The O's took an early lead but a five-run third inning was too much to overcome in a 5-2 loss to the A's on Saturday night.
Zach Britton cruised through the first two innings and entered the third up with his team up 2-0...he finally made it through the inning with his club trailing 5-2. Britton (5-3) lasted just four innings, surrendering the five runs on four hits and four walks in his second straight poor outing.
Offensively, the O's outhit the A's 8-5 and scored first on a Mark Reynold's RBI double in the second and a Nate McLouth homer in the third, but the bats went quiet over the final six frames.
The Birds have now dropped two straight and trail New York by a game in the East. The O's look to salvage the series with a win on Sunday afternoon...Randy Wolf will make his first start as an Oriole.
